The white sands of Boa Vista – the Island upon which the White Sands Hotel & Spa is built – really must be seen to be believed, and what better way to indulge in their beauty than by trekking them. In all, there are 55km of beach to explore on the Island – this might be too much by foot for even the keenest of hiker or jogger, and, if so, then there’s always quad bikes for hire (great for strengthening the arms), so you need not miss a grain.

And for the even more adventurous, Boa Vista plays host to one of the region’s liveliest windsurfing and kitesurfing hotspots. Even if you’ve never surfed before, there is plenty of opportunity to learn on the Island. Surf schools are available, or, if you already have experience and just need to hire the equipment, you’ll find everything you need to hit the waves and get that adrenaline pumping.
